I'm sitting at Starbucks yesterday doing some work there instead of at home. I am at this really long table with about 12 chairs around it and 2 other random Starbuckers are at the table with me. All of us have computers with us and our heads are down working on things.
This older woman sits down with a bright orange computer and is frantically huffing and puffing about a computer issue she is experiencing. She begins to look around the table and decides that she will first ask the guy across from me to help her figure out what her computer problem is. He immediately says that he is a student and does not know too much about fixing computers. She then looks directly at me - looks me up and down and does not say a word. She walks past me to the other end of the table and asks another guy if he could help her. A few things ran through my head about why she would not ask me for help:
1. Is it because I'm female? She is female and she could not figure it out so it must be above the brain power of all women in the world. Likely true - she looked like a super duper smarty pants.
2. Is it because I'm a blonde? I could not possibly know anything about computers. Maybe she thinks I am just sitting at Starbucks to write blogs and surf Facebook. (sidenote: writing this blog from Starbucks - don't judge me, my hair has not been true blonde since the 90's)
3. Is it because I look homeless? I do tend to go in public these days looking like I woke up in a ditch.
4. Is it because I have a "don't even think about making conversation with me" look tattooed on my face when I'm here? Maybe I accidentally snarled at her when she first sat down.
Whatever her reason, I was now interested. So, I did the proper thing and began eavesdropping on her conversation to see what could be so wrong with her computer. The entire time feeling slighted by a woman that I had no interest in talking to nor helping through her situation. I felt this need to shout out the answer before the man did just to prove to her that I could.
Problem was explained. Here was my chance.
I sat quietly.
I had no clue how to fix her problem.
Must have definitely been a job for a big strong man. I'm sure no other woman in the whole world could have fixed it since both she and I were at a loss and we are likely the most intelligent women alive.
Thank you ma'am for judging me as a dumb ass and saving both of us from an awkward interaction.

My new found love... or maybe not.
Thursdays is tennis day. Most people who know me are quite aware that I play tennis on Thursdays and possibly drink a few beers after the match - even before on some occasions. Well, yesterday was our last match of the season. My tennis partner and I were not scheduled to play this match because we have played too many.
We decided to go out and watch our team. Watching other people play tennis is not exactly the most fun thing in the world. Watching other people play tennis while boozing is quite a bit more fun.
Considering it was only 11am, I figured that just plain beer drinking would be wrong. So, I bought some "bloody beers" - think Bloody Mary with Beer instead of vodka. It seemed more appropriate for morning time drinking. The problem is, they only sell these amazing drinks in a 22 ounce can version (the kind that usually have brown paper bags around them and some sign about working for food near it).
I got to the Country Club (have to include that it was a Country Club where we were playing because it makes my Chelada boozing even more trashy) where our tennis match was being held and carried in my cooler of Bloody Beers. I happened upon my tennis partner who happens to think a lot like me when it comes to the importance of beers with tennis. She brought discreet coffee mugs for us to put our morning concoctions in.
By the end of the tennis match, we were cheering for both teams, griping about our husbands and giggling that we each had our own Big Gulp of booze before 1pm.
I can't recommend this beer enough! It's the perfect morning drink, it looks and tastes like tomato juice and I actually felt a little healthy drinking it.
Update: Got on the scale this morning after 44 ounces of 'healthy beer' and gained 3 pounds. May not be as healthy as I thought so the next time I'll have to actually play tennis while drinking this to offset potential weight gain.

The rest of the story.
Welcome to my "other blog" where I can talk about everything else going on in my life that may not be of any interest to those reading the family blog.
The purpose of the other blog is to keep friends and family updated on our life as a family. Pictures of Andrew and fun stories that he can look back on when he is a bit older. Recently, I realized I needed an outlet for the rest of the story. The funny, the frustrating, the naughty, the silly and the rants - all being overlooked.
Considering I barely find the time to update the family blog, I'm really hoping that I will be able to successfully maintain both. But this outlet will be cathartic, therapeutic and hopefully entertaining enough to me that I don't mind going back to re-live the random crap that happens.
Thanks to http://thebloggess.com for helping me to see the importance of this venture. Laugh-out-loud kinda funny over there.
